  • Carreg – stone
    Coetan – coeval, contemporary
    Arthur – ?

  • This explanation is full of complicated words, but doesn’t really explain what exactly is it?!
Is it a man-made structure? Kind of looks like it… Who did it and why? What does it symbolize, etc…

  • Thanks for the explanation!

  • The stone structure above is from the “Neolithic” age (Stone Age).
A “Quoit” means – the flat covering stone of a dolmen.
A “Dolmen” is a type of single-chamber megalithic tomb

Putting the name to the image above, the title hierarchy (descending order) should be,
“name – time period – type of object – object – location”, making the title to be:

“Carreg Coetan Arthur-neolithic quoit dolmen near Newport, North Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK”
